Kalen DeBoer and his staff have gotten off to a slow start when it comes to the Alabama Crimson Tide's 2027 recruiting class. So far, the team has landed just three commitments, ranking ninth in the SEC and 22nd in the nation.
The Crimson Tide have their work cut out for themselves if they wish to achieve yet another top-10 recruiting class under DeBoer. So far, offense has been the focal point, landing commitments from four-star QB Trent Seaborn, four-star TE Colt Lumpris and three-star TE Oakley Keegan.
However, that doesn't mean Alabama hasn't been working on defensive additions. In fact, the group took an unfortunate hit on Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide received a commitment from cornerback Nash Johnson, out of Atlanta, Georgia, on Oct. 4. His decision came despite visiting other programs such as the Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
At the time, it was an exciting addition. According to Rivals Industry Rankings, he is a three-star recruit, the No. 67 cornerback and No. 636 player in the nation.
However, after several months, the cornerback has changed his mind. On Wednesday, Rivals' Hayes Fawcett reported that Nash has decommitted from Alabama.
No longer tied to Alabama, Johnson has a handful of suitors to choose from. He has official visits lined up with the Auburn Tigers (May 29), Miami Hurricanes (June 5), Tennessee (June 12) and Ole Miss Rebels (June 19).
Meanwhile, DeBoer will look for another cornerback to replace Johnson. Alabama does have offers out to several talented options, including five-star John Meredith, five-star Joshua Dobson and four-star Gabriel Osborne Jr.
