Alabama received a brutal injury update Wednesday involving one of the defensive linemen it was hoping to have back in the rotation this season.

Junior Jeremiah Beaman suffered a torn ACL during practice Sunday and will miss the entire 2026 season, according to Alabama’s NIL collective, Yea Alabamma. The news was also reported by Nick Kelly of AL.com. It is an especially difficult setback because Beaman had already spent most of last season recovering from another ACL injury. He appeared to be on track to return and provide valuable depth up front for Kalen DeBoer’s team, only to suffer another major knee injury before the season could really get started.

Jeremiah Beaman Will Miss the 2026 Season

Beaman underwent surgery this week after suffering the injury during Sunday’s practice.

DeBoer acknowledged earlier in the week that Alabama was waiting for more information.

“Jeremiah did get hurt yesterday,” DeBoer said Monday. “We have an idea of what the injury is. I would wait to comment on it until we get a further understanding.”

That understanding arrived Wednesday, and it was the worst-case scenario for Beaman.

The former four-star recruit also tore his ACL last season before Alabama’s Week 2 matchup with Louisiana-Monroe. He had played in the season opener against Florida State but missed the final 14 games.

Now, he will lose another full season.

Alabama Loses Important Defensive Line Depth

Beaman was not necessarily projected as one of Alabama’s biggest defensive stars, but he was expected to be an important piece of the defensive front.

At 6-foot-4 and more than 300 pounds, Beaman has the ability to play multiple spots along the interior. He was expected to work behind Terrance Green and Kedrick Bingley-Jones while giving Alabama another experienced option in the rotation.

His absence puts more pressure on players such as London Simmons, Edric Hill, Isaia Faga and Steve Bolo Mboumoua.

Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack had praised Beaman’s recovery just last week, noting how difficult it is for a player of his size to work back from a major knee injury.

That makes Wednesday’s news even tougher.

Beaman had already gone through months of rehabilitation to put himself in position to contribute again. Instead, he now faces another long recovery.

For DeBoer and Alabama, it is a difficult preseason blow. For Beaman, it is an even more frustrating setback after working his way back from nearly the exact same situation one year ago.
