Kai Trump wants to stay out of politics.
The 19-year-old granddaughter of the President of the United States has certainly benefited from her role in the political world. Kai Trump has millions of followers across social media, primarily due to her last name. The Florida native is set to play collegiate golf at the University of Miami beginning this fall.
But on Wednesday night, Kai Trump attended The ESPYS. She made it clear that she wants to stay out of politics. Kai Trump is focusing on other things.
"Honestly, I kind of stay out of politics completely," she told Sportico.
"It's just not my thing."
Kai Trump, though, is facing backlash for that admission. Some believe that it's highly privileged to benefit from her obviously very political grandfather and then choose to stay out of political topics on her own.
The ESPYS, meanwhile, are facing backlash for inviting her.

"Truly the privilege of an elite who is constantly seen with and directly benefits from her familial ties to president to say she stays away from politics lollll," one fan wrote.
"She want to stay out of politics but benefits from it what a fraud," one fan added.
"Maybe she should articulate more? Or what am i listening to?" another fan added.
Others, meanwhile, are defending her.
"If she backed Trump and went full right wing politics, you’d all flip. You would cry, pout, and be furious about what she’s doing. But now she says she wants nothing to do with that life, and you’re still mad. Almost like you’ll hate her NO MATTER WHAT bc of her last name," one fan added.
It's an interesting debate, that's for sure.
It'll be interesting to see if Kai Trump is pressed on political stances during her time at Miami.
