Kai Trump is responding to growing backlash over her $50 T-shirts and other apparel sold on her personal website.
The granddaughter of President Trump released her “Kai Trump Signature” collection this week. The collection includes a “Premium Heavyweight Tee” for $48, an “Essential Organic Tank” for $42 and a “Classic Dad Hat” for $40, among other things.
“I’ve been so excited to finally share this collection with you guys. I wanted to create pieces that feel like me and that you can actually wear every day, whether you’re heading to class, the golf course, grabbing coffee, traveling, or wherever life takes you. This collection also means so much to me personally. A portion of the proceeds from my August merchandise drop will be donated to several breast cancer awareness organizations in honor of my mom. 🩷,” she wrote.

Not everyone is loving it, though.
“Her grandfather is a billionaire by the way,” one fan wrote.
“Almost $50 for a T-shirt? Seriously?” one fan wrote.
“So tone deaf,” one added.
But Kai Trump is not backing down. The University of Miami freshman golfer took to her Instagram Story to defend the T-shirts and others.

Kai Trump is clarifying that the merchandise drop is only available for a few days.
“The merch drop is only 5 days! The collection is available until 12PM EST Monday, so make sure to head to kaitrump.shop and grab your favorite pieces before it ends!” she said.
She also responded to criticism of the prices, clarifying that some of it is going for charity.
“A portion of the proceeds from my August merchandise drop will be donated to several breast cancer awareness organizations in honor of my mom. 💗”
Kai Trump isn’t backing down from the criticism.
