The return of WR Justin Jefferson to the Minnesota Vikings offense appears to be a distinct possibility. Jefferson took part in the Vikings’ Wednesday practice session and he said that he wants to play against the Saints in New Orleans.
“That’s definitely the plan,” Jefferson said, per Vikings beat reporter Alec Lewis of The Athletic. “Being back at home, in Louisiana, is something I want to do.”
Jefferson is from Destrehan, Louisiana and he played his college football at LSU.
Jefferson was one of nine Vikings on the injury report. He was listed as a limited participant in the practice session.
He suffered a sprained ankle in the first quarter of the Week Three game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he did not play in the remainder of that game. He also missed the Vikings’ Week Four game against the Miami Dolphins.
New Vikings WR Beckham has great respect for Jefferson
The Vikings added Odell Beckham to their practice squad Wednesday, and he has a long-standing relationship with Jefferson. Beckham played at LSU years before Jefferson arrived at the school, but the two know each other well and have been friends for many years.
Beckham has great admiration for Jefferson, and he believes that Jefferson is clearly a dominant player. He is glad to have a chance to get on the same practice field with Jefferson.
“To get to watch him live that out is pretty amazing,” Beckham said when he met the Vikings media. “He’s got a chance to be one of the best to ever do it. It’s special to be able to be here with him.”
Beckham made the New York Giants roster in training camp this summer, but he was targeted just once in three games and the team released him. There is a chance Beckham could be activated for the Saints game.
