A jury in Louisiana has announced a verdict in the case of an NFL reporter who was killed at the Super Bowl in New Orleans last year.
In February 2025, 27-year-old Adan Manzano, a Telemundo television reporter covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans, was found dead in a hotel room. He was found dead in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner.
According to an autopsy, Manzano was found dead with his face lying down on a pillow, unable to breathe after ingesting a fatal combination of alcohol and Xanax.
This week, a Louisiana jury found 48-year-old Danette Colbert and her alleged accomplice, Rickey White, guilty. They were found guilty of racketeering. Colbert was also found guilty of negligent homicide, while White was found not guilty of manslaughter.

According to the case, Colbert was the last person seen with the Super Bowl reporter. She was convicted of drugging the reporter and taking his belongings, including his wallet and cell phone.
“Colbert and White had spent years carrying out a criminal enterprise that drew in victims in the city’s historic French Quarter with the promise of sex, then used drugs to knock them out and drain their bank accounts using stolen cards and phones, according to prosecutors,” News Nation reported.
“A third suspect, Christian Anderson, faced similar charges but took a plea deal, dropping his manslaughter charges to simple robbery and racketeering to access device fraud, according to court records.”
Colbert’s conviction carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, Jefferson Parish Assistant District Attorney Jenny Voss told reporters.
The prosecution is happy with the result.
“We are pleased with the verdict — we knew this was a difficult case going in,” she told reporters. “Justice was served.”
Super Bowl 61 is set to be played in Los Angeles in February 2027.
