New York Mets stars Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto might be teammates for the foreseeable future, but that doesn't mean they have to get along.
During the 2025 MLB season, there were a plethora of rumors about how Lindor and Soto weren't on the same page. Mets owner Steve Cohen recently shared his thoughts on that narrative. Although he said he doesn't anticipate moving on from either All-Star, it didn't sound like things are all rosy in the clubhouse.
"I don't see them going anywhere, and frankly I think that's a story that was last year's story, and that actually am told and believe strongly that these guys are getting along much better," Cohen said on The Show podcast. "And so I just don't see that as an issue anymore. I'm lucky enough to have two high-quality players like that, and with the elimination of whatever issues there were last year, I'm thrilled that they're on the team."

Soto, who signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets, spoke to The Athletic's Will Sammon about all the speculation involving him and Lindor. Let's just say he has a way with words.
"There were no issues last year — at all," Soto told The Athletic. "We didn’t have any beef or anything. Definitely, our relationship is getting better because it takes time. When you meet a girl, you don’t start kissing her right away."
Soto's comment is undoubtedly going to be the No. 1 topic for every Mets podcast, radio show and blog this weekend.
What did Lindor have to say?
Lindor didn't provide a juicy quote when asked about his dynamic with Soto. However, the talented shortstop made it clear that he respects his teammate.
"The more time we spend together, it’s only natural that our relationship continues to grow. We’ve been teammates for two years now. Time has been on our side. I have nothing but respect for him. He’s my brother. He’s somebody I respected from a distance and respect here, inside."
At 36-52, the Mets will need their best players to get on the same page if they want any hope at salvaging the 2026 season.
