The New York Knicks are officially NBA champions for the first time since 1973, which means they've earned a trip to the White House. That is, of course, if they're interested in meeting the president of the United States.
President Trump actually attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Although that ended up being a loss for the Knicks, they rebounded nicely with back-to-back comeback wins over the Spurs.
While the Knicks have been fairly quiet since capturing the championship, former NFL star Boomer Esiason put some pressure on them this week by urging them to visit the White House.
“When does Jim Dolan tell his team that we’re going down to visit my good friend Donald Trump in the White House? That’s what I can’t wait for. And hopefully they all go. Hopefully, they go just like they’re doing everything that they’re doing here. I would love to see them be honored at the White House, given this is the 250th birthday of our great nation, wouldn’t it be wonderful to see the Knicks standing there with a huge Knicks fan who happens to be the president of the United States,” Esiason said on WFAN this Tuesday.
“You go out of respect to the office…I would think that everybody can get over the political nature of all of this. Doing the right thing by the team, which this mayor happens to be doing, I’m all in support of. I have no problem with the New York Knicks going to a socialist mayor and saying, ‘We’re the champions, here are the keys,’ and the mayor basking in the glow of that championship.”

Will the Knicks accept an invitation to the White House?
Knicks guard Jose Alvarado was asked by TMZ Sports if a trip to the White House is in his future. The 28-year-old guard said he's more than OK with visiting the nation's capital as long as his teammates are up for it.
"If there's a chance, I'm going wherever my teammate go," Alvarado told TMZ.
The Knicks have not yet said if they received an invitation to the White House, but most fans expect them to get one since team owner James Dolan is close friends with President Trump.
In the meantime, the Knicks will enjoy a ticker-tape parade this Thursday in New York City.
