The New Orleans Saints knew they had to add more weapons after the 2025 season.
Quarterback Tyler Shough looked impressive as a rookie, and head coach Kellen Moore is a bright offensive mind. However, Shough and Moore didn’t exactly have a ton of talent to work with, which is why the team struggled to win many games.
As a result, the Saints went and selected Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the No. 8 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Tyson was widely considered the best or second-best receiver prospect in the draft, and the idea of pairing him with Chris Olave was definitely exciting.
Tyson did have injury concerns in college, and unfortunately, he’s already having those in the NFL as well. Tyson was placed on injured reserve ahead of the roster deadline and has yet to make his debut.
Because Tyson was designated to return, he can technically practice next week. However, that doesn’t appear likely to happen.
Jordyn Tyson Not Expected to Practice Next Week

According to Moore, Tyson is not expected to practice next week despite being eligible to. Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported the news.
Tyson had a flare up of a hamstring injury in mid-August, and he was given a two-month recovery timeline. Next week won’t be two months quite yet, so it’s not surprising that Tyson isn’t ready just yet.
The best-case scenario now is for Tyson to begin practicing in mid-October, between Weeks 5 and 6. It would certainly be nice to have the talented rookie back in the fold to take some pressure off of Chris Olave.
Right now, Olave easily leads the team in catches and receiving yards. Olave has 27 catches for 375 yards, while no other receiver has more than 15 catches or even 175 yards.
Even without Tyson, only seven teams are averaging more yards per game than the Saints so far. Shough has already thrown for 917 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions, so it’s exciting to think about what this offense could be like at full strength.
