Duke made NCAA Tournament history with Sunday's Elite Eight loss.
The Blue Devils, the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, blew a 19-point lead against No. 2 seed UConn on Sunday. The Huskies are off to the Final Four, while the Blue Devils are going home early.
Duke, one year removed from a stunning comeback loss to Houston in the Final Four, is now going home early once again.
With the loss on Sunday, Duke coach Jon Scheyer made NCAA Tournament history, as well.
"Duke is now the ONLY 1-seed to lose after leading by 15+ at halftime 😳 UCONN STUNS DUKE 👀," the Field of 68 tweeted.
Duke's head coach is getting roasted
"134-0… and Duke just turned it into trivia forever," one fan wrote.
"Jon Scheyer elite level choke artist with more advantages than anyone," one fan added.
"The only bad part about Duke losing is Connecticut winning," one fan added.
"I watched the game they completely choked, only needed to hold the ball and they threw into three opponents," one fan added.
"Horrible coaching by Duke. 10 seconds left 10 seconds to get the ball over half court … HOW did the Duke coaching staff not say to them JUST HOLD THE BALL. Coaching staff lost this game tonight for Duke. How was that NOT a conversation in the huddle 🤔 Obviously it wasn't lol," one fan added.
This is the type of loss that you never get over.
