The first season under head coach John Harbaugh has quickly taken an ugly turn for the New York Giants.
After defeating the Dallas Cowboys 28-20 in Week 1, the Giants suffered a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams on “Monday Night Football.” Not only were they dysfunctional on the field, they lost second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart to a left knee injury.
Initially, the Giants said that Dart was “going to be OK” despite leaving the game early. The belief was that he suffered a sprained MCL. According to multiple reports, however, he could miss the remainder of the season.
“Further testing today revealed Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s knee injury is worse than initially thought, and the team and Dart now are facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said. “Further testing today revealed Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s knee injury is worse than initially thought, and the team and Dart now are facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery.”

So is Dart truly out for the year? Well, Harbaugh was asked that question this Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters afternoon, Harbaugh said he’s “not in position” to be reporting on Dart’s injury.
“That’s not my job. I’m not a media person. I just can’t do that,” Harbaugh said. “It’s not the right thing to do. I don’t even know all the answers because I’m not the person who’s hurt. I’m not the doctor.”
What’s next for the Giants?
Now that Dart is sidelined indefinitely, the Giants will need to lean on Jameis Winston at quarterback.
Winston struggled against the Rams on Monday, throwing for just 111 yards and an interception. In two starts last season, he completed 56.1% of his passes for 567 yards with two touchdowns and two picks.
The Giants are holding out hope that Dart is able to return later this season.
