The days of the New York Giants treating training camp like a vacation are reportedly over under first-year coach John Harbaugh.

The Giants are going to start their season with 10 practices in an 11-day span while at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia later this month.

The Athletic's Dan Duggan noted the schedule on X (formerly Twitter) and reported how it differs from the training-camp schedule under previous head coach Brian Daboll.

Daboll was fired midseason in 2025 after going 20-40-1 in his tenure with Big Blue, and 11-33 over his final 44 games after he was named NFL Coach of the Year while guiding the Giants to the playoffs in 2022.

Duggan, who has covered the Giants for more than a decade, reported the camp schedule Tuesday while noting Harbaugh is pushing the Giants to the limit under the collective-bargaining agreement.

"The Giants are getting their money’s worth with the Greenbrier practice fields," Duggan posted. "They open training camp at the West Virginia resort on July 29 and have four days of practice before being off on Aug. 2 then they practice for six straight days before returning to New Jersey post-practice on Aug. 8 (six is the CBA max allowance for consecutive practices)."

Harbaugh's schedule will differ from that of Daboll's, according to Duggan.

"That's 10 practices in the first 11 days of camp," Duggan posted. "Daboll never held practice more than three straight days in camp."

The Giants are going to West Virginia, in part, due to the World Cup Final taking place at MetLife Stadium on July 19 -- which is next door to their training facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

John Harbaugh is Living up to his Reputation

There are former Baltimore Ravens who have warned the Giants about Harbaugh's penchant for overworking players, particularly in training camp.

"It's harder, it's physical, it's longer," then-Ravens safety Kendrick Lewis said of Harbaugh's three-hour training-camp practices in 2015.

Harbaugh, himself, addressed those practices back in 2015 in a story on the Ravens official website.

"It was a very physical, very tough practice," Harbaugh said, referencing a particular full-pads practice. "It's always the one where the coach – at least in my case – this coach gets a little crazy, because it's a tough step to take from the hitting level of intensity to this level of intensity.

"But I feel like you have to do it before you get into that first preseason game. You push them pretty hard through this. They responded very well. We have a bunch of tough guys, and really, what we're trying to build is a tough team, and this is how it's done."

Given the fact he boasts a .614 career win% as head coach, and he has a full slate of practices on the calendar, Harbaugh doesn't seem close to changing his methods anytime soon.
