Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has never been the most mobile quarterback (unless you count running for his life from pass rushers). But he’s hoping to add a little mobility to his game in 2026.
Speaking to the media this week, Burrow declared that he intends to be more mobile in 2026 than he was in 2025 and said that he was only scrambling less because he was recovering from toe surgery. Now that he’s healthy though, he wants his mobility to be an extra weapon in his arsenal.
“My legs are a big part of my game,” Burrow said.
To his credit, Burrow has shown some mobility in the past. In his 77 regular season games he has 847 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. In 2022 he ran with the ball 75 times for 257 yards and five touchdowns – all career-highs.
Granted, in that same season he was still taking sacks at a rather alarming rate and taken sacks on a whopping 7-percent of his career dropbacks. He’s had three seasons where he’s been taken down at least 40 times.

Fans were not amused.
As confident as Burrow is in his rushing ability, fans are more concerned that there are deeper issues at play and worried that running will just get him hurt again:
“And back to IR he goes,” one user on X remarked.
“Flacco confirmed starter by week 7,” another joked.
“Joey B being ready to scramble isn’t something you want to hear as a Bengals fan lol,” a third wrote.
“Get ready bengals fans…”
“Nightmare fuel for the fans. Guys next injury might break them.
“If he didn’t have 15 previous injuries I’d be less concerned, but god damn dudes a glass cannon now.”
Burrow hasn’t had a losing record as a starter since his rookie season. So the Bengals can really only go as far as Burrow’s health will take them.
