The Cincinnati Bengals entered the Week 4 game with a thin wide receiver room and left with an even thinner one. Joe Burrow had neither Ja’Marr Chase nor Tee Higgins available for the potential game-winning drive after the WR duo exited with injuries.
With Andrei Iosivas and Colbie Young also recovering from injuries, the Bengals may need to explore the market for another wide receiver. Tyreek Hill is among the best available receivers who could provide some much-needed depth.
Hill is set to enter the free agent market soon. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he plans to start talking with teams Monday.
“I would anticipate Tyreek potentially signing with a team over the next few days,” Rosenhaus said.
Hill became a free agent after the Miami Dolphins released him in February. The receiver dislocated his knee and tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL, in Week 4 of the 2025 season.
A Risky but Interesting Option for Cincinnati
Hill would make sense for a Bengals offense that suddenly has major questions at wide receiver. After Ja’Marr Chase left Sunday’s game with a concussion, Jacksonville made life hard for Tee Higgins and the rest of Cincinnati’s receivers.
Adding Hill would give Joe Burrow another dependable weapon. Even if Hill is not the same player he was before the injury, his speed could open up more space for Higgins and Cincinnati’s other wideouts.
Hill is 32 years old and coming off a serious knee injury that sidelined him for most of the year. He is reportedly targeting a return in November, so signing him would not solve Cincinnati’s immediate receiver problem. However, if either Chase or Higgins is expected to miss several weeks, the Bengals could look for help.
Should the Bengals Wait on Chase and Higgins?
The Bengals’ move for Hill could depend on the injury reports. If Chase clears concussion protocol soon and Higgins’ adductor injury is minor, Cincinnati may not need to make a major move.
Burrow threw 54 passes in Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville, and Cincinnati cannot rely on him to carry the offense every week without enough weapons around him.
Taylor revealed on Monday that Chase is still under concussion protocol and Higgins is day-to-day. The Bengals visit the Miami Dolphins next week.
