Joe Buck is set to call Super Bowl 61 for ESPN this year.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports is set to broadcast the NFL’s biggest game for the first time in network history. Super Bowl 61 will air on ESPN in February 2027. Buck and his color commentator, Troy Aikman, will be on the call.
Buck and Aikman are being credited by some inside of ESPN for helping the network land the big game.
“Aikman and Buck got a fortune, but they also brought a Super Bowl to ESPN,” Chris Russo said, via Awful Announcing.
“Because I don’t know if they would have gotten a Super Bowl unless they had those guys because that’s how important they are, Aikman and Buck…so a little different for them. But to pay the top guys $17 million to do the games, we’re gonna watch the games no matter what. Not one announcer – and that includes Madden – if you gave Madden a lousy game, you’re not gonna watch it…nobody is watching these games to see the announcers.”

Buck, though, could have a major family conflict in February 2027.
His daughter, Natalie, is due to give birth on Super Bowl Sunday.
The NFL announcer told Jimmy Traina of his potential family conflict.
Buck’s family conflict
“My daughter Natalie is due on Super Bowl Sunday,” Buck revealed. “Jack Buck’s son, the little boy that was doing the World Series in 1996, his daughter is due on Super Bowl Sunday, yes.”
Buck is going to be a grandfather – and his young sons will be uncles.
“I’ve got eight-year-old twin boys. They’re going to be eight-year-old uncles,” Buck said. “Uncle Blake and Uncle Wyatt, we can get in the sandbox together at some point. But yeah, it’s kind of nuts.”
“Every countdown clock that I see at ESPN, while everyone else was going, ‘Man, we got Super Bowl 61!’ That’s my countdown clock to being a grandpa,” he added.
Buck, of course, won’t be leaving the Super Bowl.
“I’m leaving. I am not needed in Inglewood, California. I need to be there (for the birth of his grandchild), right?” Buck joked. “I’m kidding. Obviously I will be there (at the Super Bowl).”
