If you’re a fan of both Jimmy Fallon and the NFL, you’re in luck this season.
Fallon, 51, has been hosting a late-night show on NBC since 2009. Back in 2019, the popular comedian had shows air after “Sunday Night Football.” Although he won’t have postgame shows this fall, he’ll actually have a lead-in special for NBC.
It was confirmed Wednesday that Fallon will host a few shows before select “Sunday Night Football” games.
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with NBC Sports again this year for these Sunday night episodes,” a spokesperson for Fallon’s show said.
According to LateNighter’s Jed Rosenzweig, there’ll be four special episodes of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” during the 2026 NFL season.
Here are the four dates:
- Sept. 27 – Rams vs. Broncos
- Nov. 8 – Buccaneers vs. Bears
- Nov. 15 – Steelers vs. Bengals
- Jan. 10 – regular season finale

Who asked for this?
Judging by the early reactions online, NFL fans aren’t eager to watch Fallon before “Sunday Night Football.” Of course, their opinions could change over the next few months.
“And that’s when I turn off my tv,” one fan said.
“Why though,” a second fan commented.
“That’s going to be a no from me,” another fan wrote.
The NFL season kicks off this Wednesday with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.
