It's always a surprise when a team is 0-4 to start the season, but it's even more of a shocker when that team was expected to be good this year. That's the case with the Los Angeles Chargers, who still haven't won a single game.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh brought in a new offensive coordinator this year in Mike McDaniel, who came from the Miami Dolphins. Him doing that brought a lot of excitement around the Chargers, and people were really anticipating watching some real football action with him in the fold.
But, it's been a disaster. That means the Chargers are one of the teams that could really benefit from a trade as Week 5 approaches.
The Chargers could target Marvin Harrison Jr.
In a Bleacher Report feature out on Tuesday, Alex Kay gives trade ideas for each of the NFL teams that haven't won a single showdown yet. The Chargers are one of those teams, and he has them getting wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals, with the Cardinals receiving a 2027 third-round draft pick.
"The offense has looked anything but competitive with McDaniel calling the shots," he notes in the piece. "The team ranks a pitiful No. 29 in scoring, averaging just 16.8 points per game."
He adds that "a trade for an immensely talented but underperforming wideout in Marvin Harrison Jr. could benefit all parties."
"A change of scenery could be exactly what Harrison needs to rejuvenate his career," Kay notes. "It could also be the missing piece for a broken Chargers passing offense that is falling apart around quarterback Justin Herbert."
This is certainly a solid idea, and the Chargers need help badly. A few things would have to fall into line, but it's something worth watching.
