The New York Jets have been dealt another injury setback as training camp continues.
Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters Tuesday that rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq has suffered a setback in his recovery from sports hernia surgery and will miss additional time.
Aaron Glenn Provides Update on Kenyon Sadiq's Injury
"He's going to be out for a little bit," Glenn said. "I can't tell you exactly how long right now, but I will let you know at some point. Just expect him to be out for a little bit. He is working his way back."
Glenn also confirmed to ESPN's Rich Cimini that Sadiq's setback was related to the previous sports hernia surgery he underwent this offseason.
"Yes, it is. When he had the surgery, most guys normally get both of them done. That's how most doctors do it. Listen, I'm not really worried, but the thing is I want to make sure that I make the right decision so I take care of him so he can be ready for the regular season," Glenn said.
"Very confident," Glenn answered about how confident he is that Sadiq will be ready for the season opener.

This is a significant setback for the Jets. Sadiq underwent sports hernia surgery during the offseason after dealing with the injury throughout his final season at Oregon. The injury caused him to miss valuable reps during OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
The Jets selected Sadiq with the 13th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Oregon.
Sadiq has been limited throughout training camp so far. He missed practice on Monday, Aug. 3, as part of what Aaron Glenn described as a maintenance program while he continues to recover from surgery.
For now, Jeremy Ruckert and Jelani Woods will have an opportunity to take advantage of the extra reps until Sadiq returns. Both have a chance to build chemistry with Geno Smith and potentially earn themselves larger roles in the offense.
Jets edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare was also held out of Tuesday practice after being stepped on during drills. Jets rookie cornerback D'Angelo Ponds has also missed time during training camp.
Glenn said he is "very confident" that Sadiq will be ready for the Jets' Week 1 opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Sept. 13.
