The New York Jets have another injury scare involving their No. 2 overall pick.
New York Jets rookie edge rusher David Bailey suffered an ankle injury during practice.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed the injury, saying that Bailey would be listed as day-to-day.

ESPN's Rich Cimini also provided more insight into Bailey's injury, reporting that Glenn confirmed the ankle injury and said Bailey would likely be considered day-to-day. Cimini also noted that Bailey was able to jog back to the sideline under his own power after being examined in the medical tent.
"Afterward, coach Aaron Glenn confirmed it was an ankle injury, adding that Bailey likely will be listed as day-to-day. He was able to jog back to the sideline after being examined in the medical tent," Cimini wrote.
Cimini also noted that Bailey has enjoyed a strong training camp, recording a sack and at least two pressures. He also suggested Bailey could have had another sack if officials had not let the play continue.
"Bailey, drafted No. 2 overall, continued his strong camp, recording one sack and at least two pressures, unofficially. He probably should've had another sack, but the officials let the play continue," Cimini added.
Jets Rookies Dealing With Injuries
The Jets made shoring up their defense a priority this offseason, and Bailey was a major reason why.
Throughout training camp, Bailey made a significant impression on the coaching staff before suffering the injury, showing why he was the No. 2 overall pick. The setback was unfortunate for a rookie who had been generating momentum.
Bailey isn't the only Jets rookie dealing with an injury. Indiana cornerback D'Angelo Ponds, whom the Jets drafted in the second round, has missed significant time with a strained calf. Seventh-round pick V.J. Payne will miss a month of action due to a bone bruise.
The Jets are hoping Bailey, along with their other rookies, can return to the field sooner rather than later as they continue preparing for the 2026 NFL season.
