Despite hopes of improvement under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, it was another disappointing season for the New York Jets. They finished 2025 going 3-14, fourth place in the AFC East and extending their playoff drought to 15 years. While both the offense and defense struggled, the front office has quickly gotten to work making improvements.
On Monday, the Jets agreed to send the Miami Dolphins a 2026 seventh-round pick for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. They will also sign him to a three-year, $40 million contract. New York will be adding a five-time Pro Bowler to its roster. However, the deal can be finalized on Wednesday when the new league year begins.

It's one of several moves general manager Darren Mougey has made. The Jets have also agreed to contracts with a handful of free agents, including EDGE Joseph Ossai (three years, $35.5 million), linebacker Demario Davis (two years, $22 million) and EDGE Kingsley Enagbare (one-year, $10 million).
With the Jets already agreeing to hand out more than $100 million in contracts, running back Breece Hall shared his initial thoughts on X.
"Damn we sure got a lot of money in Florham Park all these contracts dudes signing," Hall wrote.
As Hall awaits his own long-term extension, he's taken notice of the Jets' willingness to give significant money to other players. He was set to enter free agency on Wednesday, but was blocked after being placed under a non-exclusive franchise tag.
He was expected to garner a lot of interest after rushing for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns in 2025. The former Iowa State Cyclone also hauled in 36 receptions for 350 yards and one touchdown.
While other teams can negotiate with the running back, the Jets have the right to match any offer. If no long-term deal is agreed to by July 15, then Hall will play the 2026 season under a one-year, $14.2 million contract.
