NFL fans that only just woke up got the news that the New York Jets did a player-for-player trade with the Tennessee Titans. The Jets sent Pro Bowl pass rusher Jermaine Johnson to the Titans in exchange for NT T'Vondre Sweat.

Johnson now reunites with newly-appointed Titans head coach Robert Saleh, who previously served as head coach of the Jets for the first three years of Johnson's career. He played in 14 games for the Jets in 2025, finishing with three sacks, five tackles for loss and six QB hits.

Sweat was a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and emerged as a solid starting nose tackle for the Titans early on. Through two seasons he has 85 tackles, eight tackles for loss, six QB hits and three sacks in 29 games.

But according to Jets insider Connor Hughes of SNY, the Johnson trade is not the start of a "fire sale" on Jets players. That being said, they are "open to dealing and listening" at the Scouting Combine this week.

"The #Jets are not having a fire sale, but Jermaine Johnson isn't the only player available. Was told from multiple sources, who had conversations with New York here in Indianapolis, that they are open to dealing & listening," Hughes wrote.

Who else?

NFL fans are already speculating over who else might be available for the Jets. The only player fans seem really high on at the moment is pass rusher Will McDonald IV, who led the team with 8.0 sacks and other pass rushing categories this past year.

Breece Hall technically isn't under contract with the Jets for 2026 but they will place a tag on him if they can't get a deal done with him before the deadline to do so. Hall would almost certainly be a trade candidate after having his first 1,000-yard season in 2025.

The overwhelming majority of players on the Jets roster right now were not there when current Jets general manager Darren Mougey or head coach Aaron Glenn took over the team last year. So there aren't many players that should be considered safe regardless of their contract status.

Case-in-point, last year the Jets made trade deadline deals to ship star cornerback Sauce Gardner and all-world defensive lineman Quinnen Williams in exchange for a handful of high draft picks. They have four top-50 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft and may have as many as five picks in the first two rounds of next year's draft.

Simply put, the Jets are open for business.
