New York Jets running back Breece Hall is trending toward playing in the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans after missing time with a groin injury.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Tuesday that Hall will return to practice this week and is trending toward playing Sunday. Hall has been sidelined since suffering the injury during a non-contact training camp play on Aug. 17.
Hall’s return would be a significant boost for a Jets offense preparing for its first game of the 2026 season. The running back is coming off the best rushing season of his career after finishing 2025 with 1,065 yards on 243 carries and four rushing touchdowns.
He also contributed 350 receiving yards and one touchdown on 36 receptions, giving him 1,415 scrimmage yards and five total touchdowns last season.
The Jets made their commitment to Hall clear this offseason, signing him to a three-year, $45.75 million extension in May after placing the franchise tag on him. The deal keeps him at the center of New York’s offensive plans for the next several seasons.
Hall has also established himself as one of the Jets’ most productive offensive players since entering the league. Through four seasons, he has rushed for 3,398 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding 1,642 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.

His availability could be particularly important Sunday as the Jets travel to Tennessee to face former New York head coach Robert Saleh, who is beginning his tenure with the Titans.
For now, Glenn’s update gives the Jets reason for optimism. Hall still needs to get through this week’s practices without a setback, but his return to the field puts him on track to suit up when the regular season begins.
