The New York Jets will be without Breece Hall again after the running back was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots with a quadriceps injury. Hall did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, leaving little doubt about his availability.
The Jets confirmed Hall’s status on their final injury report Friday. The decision extends a frustrating stretch for the fifth-year back, who has not played since leaving New York’s Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions with the injury. He has missed three straight games.
Hall’s absence removes one of the Jets’ most versatile offensive weapons. He had 163 rushing yards and 102 receiving yards through three appearances before getting hurt, giving New York a reliable option as a runner and pass catcher.
With Hall unavailable, Braelon Allen is positioned to continue leading the backfield. Allen has filled in during Hall’s absence, and the Jets will need him to handle more rushing work while helping keep the offense balanced.
Isaiah Davis provides another option, but replacing Hall’s rushing and receiving production will likely require contributions from multiple players. New York cannot simply replicate Hall’s role with one back, especially if the passing game needs support against pressure.

Hall’s return remains uncertain. He was considered week-to-week after the quad injury, and three consecutive missed practices offered no sign that he was ready to resume football activities. The Jets have not provided a specific timetable for his return.
New York must manage without its starting running back again as it looks to build momentum in the AFC East. Hall’s next opportunity will depend on his recovery and whether he can return to practice. Until then, Allen and Davis will be central to the Jets’ ground game.
