Cowboys All-Pro kicker Brandon Aubrey will very likely re-set the market at his position this offseason. But what that figure will be exactly remains a conversation.

Chiefs three-time Super Bowlchampion Harrison Butker currently makes the most of any kicker with a $6.4 million annual salary, and Dallas reportedly offered Aubrey a long-term deal that would average close to $7.5 million per season.

However, Aubrey is rumored to be seeking a number more in the $10 million range.

Jerry Jones on Brandon Aubrey contract: 'We want to make him the highest-paid'

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appears to be onboard with the idea that Aubrey should be the No. 1 kicker in the league in terms of salary. But it doesn't sound like he's willing to budge much further than the $7.5 million figure he initially offered.

“We want to make him the highest-paid player,” Jones said, via the Cowboys' official website. “[We] think he’s outstanding. Love his story, love the fact that the story is with the Cowboys. We feel good that what we are talking about is an appreciation of what he can do for us. That’s a way of, not trying to negotiate with anything that I might say here, but we’ve got a good offer on the table for him.”

Cowboys place franchise tag on WR George Pickens

The Cowboys also took care of another matter over the weekend by placing the franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens Friday. Dallas used the non-exclusive tag on the first-time Pro Bowler — something Jones says he forewarned Pickens about and that the two have had "positive" conversations.

"I expressed to him how valuable a part of the team that we think he is, I think he is," Jones explained. "The kind of contribution he can make, he'll continue to get better working Dak, working with the other receivers. So we talked about the future, we both reiterated how good it was for him to be here, and know that what we have in place assures that he will be here."

"So often when we've done franchise [tags], we get long term deals done," Jerry added. "That's a lot of confidence there ... Without a question, this is an expression on our part of what kind of person we think he is, what kind of player we think he is."

Pickens put up incredible numbers for the Cowboys in 2025 on his way to 93 catches, 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. While Aubrey has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three years.

We tend to know how this game goes with the Cowboys and their stars when it comes time to pay up. We'll see if its more of the same this offseason.
