Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys took care of business in their Week 2 home opener, beating the Washington Commanders 37-20 at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Prescott was nearly flawless, completing 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns without an interception, finishing with a 143.8 passer rating.
Dallas jumped out early, scoring on each of its first three possessions to lead 10-0 after one quarter and 17-10 at halftime.
Prescott capped the win with 3:07 left, hitting Lamb for a 24-yard touchdown that pushed his career total to 249 passing touchdowns, the most in Cowboys history, passing Tony Romo.

The record-breaking throw is the latest proof of why Jerry Jones made such a big financial bet on his quarterback back in 2024. Jones signed Prescott to a four-year, $240 million contract that made him the NFL’s highest-paid player at the time, a deal that faced heavy criticism before performances like this one started backing it up.
Now, Jones is making it clear that none of it has happened by accident. On Tuesday, the Cowboys owner credited Prescott’s rise to the work he’s consistently put into refining his game, pointing to both his ethic and his drive to keep sharpening every detail.
“He’s a product of his own work ethic. He’s a product of his focus on getting better at every detail of his game. I’m happy to say that he’s a better quarterback today than he’s ever been,” Jones said. “He’s playing at an extremely high level (and) that gives us our best chance (to win a Super Bowl). We still have the opportunity to get him championships.”
Prescott’s night also pushed Dallas to 1-1 on the season, with the passing game finding its rhythm just as the schedule is about to get tougher.
Dallas hosts the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with Prescott looking to build on his hot start against Lamar Jackson and Baltimore’s defense.
