The Dallas Cowboys earned their first win of the NFL season in Week 2 over the Washington Commanders. However, for a second straight week one of their top offensive weapons, wide receiver George Pickens, was not heavily involved in the offense.

The 25-year-old Pro Bowl receiver, now in his second season with Dallas, caught just six passes for 40 yards in the win.

His low yardage total comes just one week after hauling in just three receptions for 28 yards during a loss to the New York Giants, with quarterback Dak Prescott targeting him just six times in that contest.

Last year, Pickens totaled 1,429 yards and earned the first Pro Bowl selection of his career, so sitting this low against two secondaries he typically thrives against is unusual.

With Pickens not getting off to the start he had hoped for, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones weighed in Friday ahead of Dallas’ Week 3 matchup in Brazil against the Baltimore Ravens.

“George will get his. There’s no doubt in my mind that when the dust has settled he will absolutely be right there with the top reception leaders in the league in my mind,” Jones said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Pickens certainly has some work to do to get back among the top reception leaders in the NFL. His current total has him ranked 79th in receiving yards league-wide, while teammate CeeDee Lamb sits inside the top 10 with 197 yards.

Pickens will face a tough matchup against the Ravens secondary in Week 3, but Jones is not concerned about him long-term.

Pickens is still playing under the franchise tag this year, making this season particularly important as he looks to earn a longer contract from the organization.
