The Dallas Cowboys are headed to Brazil to play the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. Jerry Jones would like to eventually see his team play in another international destination.
During his weekly Tuesday interview on 105.3 The Fan, via Cowboys reporter Patrik Walker, Jones highlighted a different area outside the United States where he’d like Dallas to play.
“If we’re given a legit choice, we prefer Mexico,” Jones said.
The Cowboys have yet to play in any of the NFL’s five games at Estadio Azteca. The league returns to Mexico City when the Minnesota Vikings play the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 22, before going back in 2027 and 2028.
Jones has previously expressed a desire for Dallas to play in Mexico City, so perhaps the owner and general manager will soon get his wish. First, the Cowboys must set their sights on Rio de Janeiro amid concerns about the playing surface.

An unfortunate subplot could steal the attention from Sunday’s Cowboys-Ravens game in Brazil. Soccer goalie Agustin Rossi recently raised concerns about Maracana Stadium.
“It’s unbelievable that we’re playing on a field like this. Both penalty areas are bad as [expletive],” Rossi told a Brazilian sports outlet. “If you look at it, there are bumps everywhere. There’s still going to be an NFL game here during the international break. After that game, I hope the field is in better shape.”
Jones didn’t have much information about the field following Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders.
“I was asking about it before the game, but I don’t know any more now than I knew then,” Jones said. “We’ll look at that, and I know that it’s of utmost concern to the league that the teams have a good playing surface down there. You’ll certainly stay informed as we look into it, and it’s front of mind now that we’ve gotten past the Washington Commanders.”
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said they’ve been in direct contact with the NFL, which isn’t worried about the playing conditions.
“The league seems to feel like everything’s going to be fine,” Schottenheimer said. ” … I have no concerns. I’m aware of some of the quotes and stuff, but again, I trust that the league’s going to make the right decision and they’ll get the field up to standard.”
