ESPN's Shams Charania has revealed the details of the current situation between Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics.
According to Charania, Boston is still shopping Brown to multiple teams in hopes of moving him out and pairing another star with Jayson Tatum.
Charania shared the update on Wednesday, on the second day of the NBA Draft.
“The Boston Celtics are actively engaged in trade talks surrounding Jaylen Brown with multiple interested teams,” Charania stated. “And I’m told there is a sense of purpose from teams around the league that they feel from the Celtics in these conversations.”
This comes after the Celtics were beaten out by the Miami Heat in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes, as both teams emerged as finalists in the blockbuster deal.

Even though there’s interest from teams in Brown, the five-time NBA All-Star’s current contract makes it a bit harder to push any transaction through.
“That does not mean, though, that the deal is guaranteed because Jaylen Brown does have three years left on his contract,” Charania continued. “He’s got a supermax deal that he’s on.
"From my understanding, the urgency from either side could change as the weeks go on, and this all comes in the wake of the Celtics losing out on Giannis after they offered Jaylen Brown and two first-round picks."
Brown helped the historic franchise secure the 2024 NBA title and was even named the Finals MVP during that run.
He also kept Boston relevant in the East last season while Tatum was recovering from the Achilles injury he suffered in May 2025.
Despite all these, the Celtics seem keen on moving forward without the No. 3 pick from the 2016 NBA Draft.
Charnia concluded by saying that Brown's "status is very much up in the air in Boston.”
