Jayden Daniels and his family caused a lot of drama this week, with their demands sent to the LSU football program.
Daniels and his family are demanding that LSU stop using the quarterback's name, image and likeness to promote the program, after the Tigers issued his No. 5 jersey to sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett.
"The Daniels family is deeply disappointed and feels profoundly disrespected by LSU's decision to give Jayden's number to another player," the statement from Daniels' spokesperson said. "Jayden and his family had every reason to believe that his number would remain a meaningful part of his LSU legacy and would be honored and protected in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the university."
Daniels wore No. 5 while winning a Heisman Trophy at LSU.
"Jayden made it clear that he did not want his number given to another player, and he believed his wishes would be respected," the statement said. "His Heisman Trophy-winning season and everything he accomplished on and off the field cemented his place in LSU history. To see his number given to another player is incredibly disappointing and feels like a failure to honor the significance of what Jayden accomplished at LSU."

Daniels' mom, Regina, is very much involved in both his football life on the field and off of it.
In fact, she's made it clear that she wants to "warn" anyone who tries to come into his life for the wrong reasons.

Regina Jackson said on a podcast that she will always protect her son.
“I find it difficult to navigate this NFL lifestyle as a young athlete mom because of how many people are just looking for a payout. I didn’t grow up seeing my family get taken advantage of. My biggest fear in life is letting the wrong people into my son’s inner circle and losing everything I’ve worked for. I genuinely wish more athletes had someone in their corner keeping it 100% real with them. It would help so many young guys protect their future from the women of nowadays. Protecting my son from women trying to target his fortune and take his millions is a top priority for me. Seeing your child get taken advantage of should be every parent’s biggest fear. I’m a mom that protects my son," she said.
Daniels and the Commanders, meanwhile, are set to open the 2026 NFL regular season against the Eagles.
