Jayden Daniels has given a huge NFL job to his mother, Regina Jackson.
The Washington Commanders third-year quarterback is entering what could be a huge contract year. Daniels and the Commanders could start negotiating a longterm, huge-money contract extension. After the 2026 regular season, Daniels will be eligible to sign his second contract.
Who will be negotiating that contract?
His mother.
Daniels has given his mother sole agent rights ahead of his third NFL regular season, according to a report from Ben Standig.

Daniels' mother is now listed as his sole agent, according to Standig.
"According to the NFL Players Association website, Regina Jackson, Daniels’ mother, is now listed as the lone representative for the Commanders quarterback — a notable development as the former No. 2 overall pick moves closer to eventual contract negotiations that could make him one of the highest-paid players in the league," he reported.
"Veteran agent Ron Butler served as Daniels’s lead agent ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft and through his first two seasons. The NFLPA website lists the current agents or representatives for all players in its system."
While it's a bit odd, as Pro Football Talk points out, it's similar to the setup that Lamar Jackson has had.
"The situation is similar to the arrangement employed by Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. His mother, Felicia Jones, has been instrumental in the management of his career. Unlike Jones, however, Regina Jackson is the CBA-authorized representative for Daniels. She can negotiate directly with the Commanders, because she has fulfilled the various requirements for certification to represent NFL players in their contract discussions," PFT wrote.
It's worked out for Jackson, but will it work out for Daniels?
