The 2026 season was supposed to be pivotal for New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and his development, but it was unfortunately ripped away from him this week due to injury.
Dart, the 25th pick from last year’s NFL Draft, suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Los Angeles Rams. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the MRI showed damage to Dart’s MCL, PCL and meniscus.
Even though Dart has shown a ton of potential when healthy, there are concerns regarding his durability. Former Giants star Tiki Barber ultimately believes there’s enough uncertainty that John Harbaugh could eventually draft another quarterback.
“It sucks for Jaxson Dart because he’s going to be in a massive bubble when he finally comes back. If we don’t see him and he’s had these questions before this season, now we’re going to ask these questions after his injury,” Barber said on WFAN. “John Harbaugh didn’t draft him. I know that’s not what we want to think about, but it’s the reality of being an NFL player. It’s a what have you done for me lately business.”

Don’t count out Jaxson Dart.
Giants fans don’t want to entertain the idea of Dart being replaced – and understandably so.
From a production standpoint, Dart has been excellent for the G-Men. He has 2,522 passing yards, 541 rushing yards and 27 total touchdowns in just 14 starts. His personality also meshes perfectly with New Yorkers and their attitude.
That being said, the Giants’ success for the rest of the season could determine Dart’s future. If they’re not picking in the top-5, there’s zero reason for them to reach on a quarterback.
Besides, the Giants still have Dart under team control for three more seasons.
