Jaxon Smith-Njigba has become one of, if not the best wide receiver in the National Football League over the past few seasons.
The former Ohio State Buckeyes star turned Seattle Seahawks wide receiver is Sam Darnold’s go-to target. In a big moment, we know that Darnold is going to look JSN’s way. He did that on Sunday, late in the NFC West showdown between the Seahawks and the 49ers.
Unfortunately, this time, JSN did not come through. He had a big drop on a third down throw late in the fourth quarter. The pass should’ve been an easy completion, but JSN couldn’t bring it in.
The Seahawks’ chances of winning the game ended when Cooper Kupp was unable to get a first down on the ensuing play. San Francisco remained undefeated on the year, while Seattle suffered its second loss of the season.
Following the game, the first-team All-Pro wide receiver owned up to his mistake, blaming himself for the tough loss.
“I guess I was thinking too much at that time,” Smith-Njigba said postgame. “Just needed to play free and catch the ball at the end of the day. . . . I had the chance to catch the ball, so really just catch the ball. Catch the (expletive) football at the end of the day. I know I’ll make the next one.”
The Seahawks don’t have much time to sulk, though
The Seahawks can’t lick their wounds for too long.
Seattle will be back on the field on Thursday night. The Seahawks are scheduled to take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football this week.
Kickoff between the Seahawks and the Broncos is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. E.T. on Thursday evening. The game will be taking place in Denver. It’ll air live on Amazon Prime with Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit on the call.
