Cleveland Browns defensive end Jared Verse is not worried about his sack drought.
Verse gave a blunt response when asked whether he was frustrated by having no sacks this season. “I’m not frustrated at all. I mean shit, we’re winning,” he said.
The quote, shared by The Athletic’s Zac Jackson, arrived after Cleveland’s 13-10 victory over Baltimore moved the Browns to 4-2 and into a share of the AFC North lead.
Verse arrived in Cleveland after the Browns acquired him from the Los Angeles Rams in the trade involving Myles Garrett. He recorded 7.5 sacks in 2025, making the quiet start to his first season with Cleveland a noticeable change.
Through six games, Verse has yet to bring down a quarterback. The drought has drawn attention because he was brought in to help lead Cleveland’s pass rush, but the team’s results give him another measure of success.
The Browns have won four of their first six games, including close victories over Tampa Bay, Carolina and Baltimore. Their defense has helped keep those games competitive as Verse adjusts to a new system.
The transition has not been straightforward. Cleveland uses a four-man defensive front, a change from the Rams’ previous scheme, and Verse has acknowledged that adapting to the role has been difficult.

His response suggests he is focused on team results rather than individual recognition. Cleveland’s defensive staff will want more production from its edge rushers, but a sack total does not capture every contribution.
The Browns are tied with Baltimore and Pittsburgh at 4-2, leaving little margin for error in the division race. Verse’s priority is clear: help Cleveland keep winning while he works toward his first sack in a Browns uniform, as Cleveland navigates a demanding division schedule.
