The Washington Nationals celebrated James Wood after the outfielder earned his second consecutive All-Star selection during his third major league season.
The Nationals shared the milestone on social media Thursday, writing, “two all-stars in one season good job james.” The message highlighted Wood’s continued rise as one of the organization’s central young players.
Wood represented the National League in the 2026 All-Star Game after earning the honor in 2025. The back-to-back selections make him one of Washington’s most important building blocks as the club continues its rebuild.
The 24-year-old outfielder finished the 2026 regular season with a .265 batting average, 30 home runs, 77 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. He also posted a .388 on-base percentage and an .891 OPS, combining power with strong plate discipline.
Wood’s production gives Washington a centerpiece as the team works to improve its consistency. His power and speed provide value beyond the home run column.
The Nationals have relied on Wood since his major league debut in 2024. He reached 30 home runs in 2026 despite missing time with a left oblique strain.
Wood’s latest All-Star recognition underscores how quickly he has become one of Washington’s most prominent players. He remains early in his career, leaving room for further growth against top-level pitching.

For the Nationals, the next challenge is surrounding Wood with enough offensive and pitching support to turn individual progress into team success. Washington finished 2026 with a 77-85 record, underscoring the work remaining in the competitive National League East.
Wood’s consecutive All-Star selections provide a bright spot, but the club’s larger goal remains building a roster capable of contending. His development will be central to that effort entering the offseason. That gives Nationals fans reason for optimism.
