Week 2 was a bad weekend to be a quarterback in the NFL.
We unfortunately saw several top passers go down with injuries. Jaxson Dart, Caleb Williams, and Jayden Daniels all got hurt in Week 2, with Dart and Daniels’ injuries thought to be pretty serious. This is after Sam Darnold and Kyler Murray went down with injuries of their own in Week 1.
As a result, there are a few teams out there that might need to explore the trade market. Quarterback-needy teams would probably be interested in calling the Seahawks, because once Darnold gets back, the team may no longer want to keep three passers on the roster.
We’ve seen that Drew Lock is a perfectly serviceable backup, so it’s hard to see a path toward playing time for Jalen Milroe. Milroe is an extremely raw prospect, but the Seahawks obviously like him, considering they didn’t want to risk losing him on waivers.
I’m sure the Seahawks would be interested in trading Milroe, though, so let’s see if he would make sense on any of the teams with injured starters.

Of the teams with injured starters, the Bears are the most unlikely to be interested in Milroe.
Williams’ injury isn’t thought to be serious, and he should be back in a week or two. As a result, the Bears are probably much more likely to just sign a guy off the street to get them through. Plus, this is a team that wants to contend, so trading for a guy who has never attempted a pass in the NFL doesn’t make much sense.
New York Giants
The Giants are in probably the worst position of all. Jaxson Dart’s injury looked bad, but then the team felt optimistic that it was minor. Dart even lobbied to return to the game and was seen on the sideline.
Unfortunately, the injury is worse than expected, and Dart could miss the rest of the season. The Giants will roll with Jameis Winston, who has typically been reliable, but they may want a more exciting option. The thing is, Dart is clearly the starter once he’s healthy, so the team probably doesn’t want to give up draft picks for another passer.
Washington Commanders
The Commanders seem like the most logical landing spot for Milroe. Milroe is a mobile quarterback with a big arm just like Jayden Daniels, and this is now Daniels’ second serious injury in a row.
Perhaps the Commanders would be willing to trade for Milroe as insurance for Daniels. Marcus Mariota is a solid backup, but Milroe could end up having a higher ceiling.
