Although they’re no longer teammates, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is still facing questions about wide receiver A.J. Brown.
After a dysfunctional 2025 season, the Eagles agreed to trade Brown to the New England Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and 2027 fifth-round pick. The Pro Bowl wideout finished his time in Philly with 185 catches for 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Brown had the chance to showcase his skills this Wednesday during the Eagles and Patriots’ joint practice. Hurts, meanwhile, was asked what advice he’d give to Drake Maye to get the most out of his new wide receiver.
Unsurprisingly, the Super Bowl MVP answered the question the best way possible.
“I think Drake has had a lot of success already, so I don’t know what my advice would do,” Hurt replied. “I just think he needs to continue the progression that he’s on. He has accomplished so many great things in short time, and I expect more great things to come for him.”

What really happened to AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts?
During an interview with Maria Taylor in June, Brown talked about his exit from Philly as well as his connection with Hurts.
Although he said nothing happened behind the scenes, Brown admit that his friendship with Hurts weakened over time.
“Nothing happened, people just grow apart,” Brown said. “Nothing happened between me and him, or our families, wives, anything. Nothing like that ever happened. Life happens and you just look up sometimes and you just you find yourself drifting away and that’s fine. And I think both parties accepted that.”
Hurts, on the other hand, hasn’t said anything eye-opening about his dynamic with Brown. At this point in the year, he’s focused on the players currently in Philadelphia’s locker room.
