After missing Sunday’s game against the Panthers for what was being reported as a “superficial blood clot,” it now appears that Jalen Hurts’ season is over due to several more clots being found in his lungs.
Multiple more blood clots were reportedly discovered after doctors did imaging on the Eagles’ star QB over the weekend.
And while the former Super Bowl MVP is now on blood thinners and expected to suffer no long-term side effects, he’s unlikely to play again in 2026 — despite doing everything humanly possible to start Philly’s London game last week.

Jalen Hurts stayed awake for 36 hours before Eagles’ London game
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Hurts went to extreme measures so that he could be on the field for the Eagles’ hard-fought 19-17 loss to Jacksonville across the pond.
“How committed is Jalen Hurts to football?” Pelissero asked. “After initially being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in London, doctors told him not to sleep as a precaution, so he had been awake for roughly 36 hours when he started against the Jaguars, throwing for 220 yards and a TD.”
The Eagles were in position to win that game before a kickoff return put the Jags in field-goal range with just a handful of seconds left.
Fans reacted to the story of what Hurts went through in Week 5 while dealing with such a serious medical condition:
“a lot of people in the eagles organization should be fired for how this hurts situation was handled,” a user said.
“Holy f—k fire the entire Eagles training staff into the sun,” another commented.
“WHY DID THEY LET HIM PLAY,” a fan asked. “These doctors need to be investigated.”
“Not to sleep is crazy. Being told not to sleep and then playing a football game later just doesn’t make sense,” another person replied.
“Serious question: Why even let him play?” Jemele Hill posted.
“1.) f—k all the medical staff, 2.) jalen hurts is the single greatest leader i have ever seen lead this football team, 3.) i love him,” another fan exclaimed.
Hurts’ blood clots were reportedly caused by taking a cleat to the calf in Week 4’s game against the LA Rams.
Thankfully it appears that Jalen’s going to make a full recovery, but it’s easy to imagine a world where things went much worse for the 28-year-old QB.
