Just a few months ago Jalen Brunson became an icon in New York basketball when he led the Knicks to their first NBA title in 53 years. While he may not appreciate being labeled “the King of New York,” he’s certainly enjoying some of the perks – like getting to host SNL.
On Wednesday, Saturday Night Live announced that Brunson will be the first guest of their 52nd season when it airs on September 26. The musical guest for the show will be Katseye.
“FIRST FOUR OF SEASON 52!!!” SNL shared on X.
Knicks fans were pretty excited to see their superstar kicking off the season.
“SGA ain’t hosting no SNL, I’ll tell you that much,” one user on X joked.
“I want to see a sketch of Jalen Brunson, deep undercover as a Shaolin monk, trying to convince Victor Wembanyama to be less violent with his opponents,” another wrote.
“JALEN!!!!!!! so fun,” wrote a third.
“Ok I know it’s like impossible to get tickets but I NEED TO BE THERE. PLEASE.”
“The champ hosting SNL on September 26th.”
“I’m sorry but Jalen Brunson is the face of the NBA now.”

Brunson had an NBA playoffs for the ages, averaging over 28 points per game over 19 games and over 32 points per game in the playoffs.
But his crowning achievement was an epic 45-point performance in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, a record-setting mark in his own right.
Ironically, Brunson has said that the one show he really wants to get an appearance on is Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Maybe he’ll get that chance eventually.
