Will the New York Knicks visit the White House later this year to celebrate their NBA title? We're not sure, but it sounds like the champions have some issues to sort out behind the scenes.
Shortly after the Knicks won the NBA Finals, team owner James Dolan said his players accepted an invitation to meet with President Donald Trump. That announcement didn't really shock fans considering Dolan invited Trump to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
“We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted,” Dolan said on WFAN. “We still have to figure out the details, but yes, of course. Look, I invited the president to come down for the game. He is a friend. I’ve known him for 30 years and I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.
Knicks star Jalen Brunson, however, claims his team hasn't made a final decision yet.
"We haven’t discussed it," Brunson replied when asked about the prospect of a White House visit. "But as a team, we’ll discuss it and we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it."

Should the Knicks visit the White House?
Judging by the reactions online, NBA fans are torn on whether the Knicks should meet with the president of the United States.
"You get invited to the White House, you go," one fan declared. "Doesn't matter who occupies it currently, or ever. Everything special in life is too fleeting to pass up precious experiences based on your own hard work."
"I don’t want to see them there," a second fan commented. "Hopefully they just come up with a bunch of excuses due to time constraints and then the next season starts!
"From my POV, it’s not necessary to go! They should most definitely sit this one out," a social media user wrote.
"Dolan was this close...and since then, misstep after misstep. How 'bout don't say the teams going and the team has accepted the invitation if you hadn't actually talked to the team...almost had us," another fan said.
Regardless of the decision they make in the coming months, the Knicks are most likely going to be in the headlines.
