Jadarian Price’s rookie season is not going the way he or anybody else expected it to go.
The thought was that Price would just seamlessly fill in for Kenneth Walker II, and the Seahawks’ ground game would still be efficient. Instead, Price has had to slowly work his way into the game plan, and he hasn’t impressed with his opportunities.
The rookie lost a fumble in Week 2 and was outshined by Emanuel Wilson. It was easy to chalk that up to a rookie mistake and assume he’d learn from it. Week 3 was supposed to be Price’s chance to right the ship and prove he can handle a large workload.
Instead, Price lost another fumble and ended up being benched.
Price in Mike Macdonald’s Dog House
Early in the first quarter, Price took a carry and a punch from Commanders linebacker Sonny Styles jarred the ball loose.
Making matters worse, the Commanders recovered the fumble and went and scored a touchdown.
As a result, Price remained on the bench for the team’s next four drives.
Price was seen wearing a jacket while standing on the sideline. George Holani and Emanuel Wilson handled the carries with Price out.
The rookie did return to the field for the team’s final possession of the first half. Price went deep down the sideline for a pass, but it was broken up by Sonny Styles.
The second half is just now starting, so it will be interesting to see how Price is handled going forward. It’s clear that he’s not in the good graces of Macdonald right now, but he’ll have plenty of chances to redeem himself.
Rookies often struggle, but it’s how they bounce back from it that matters. We know Price is a talented running back; he just needs to rebuild his confidence and get some positive momentum.
The Seahawks are currently in a battle with the Commanders. The team trails 17-10 in the third quarter. Be sure to stay tuned in here to see all the post-game analysis.
