Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick isn’t afraid to publicly call out his players, including Bronny James.
In four preseason games this year, James has scored a total of 11 points on 4-of-15 shooting from the field. Not only has he struggled to find his range from downtown, he has 12 total turnovers during that stretch.
Following the Lakers’ 101-89 loss to the Warriors on Tuesday night, Redick addressed Bronny’s rough preseason. Even though Redick admit that Bronny hasn’t played well, he didn’t exactly throw his player under the bus.
“I thought he had a really nice September and a good summer with us. I don’t think he’s played well in the four preseason games, but he’s had good practices,” Redick said. “Again, some of it is just rhythm, some of it is who he’s playing with, right? He’s played a lot of minutes especially in the second half of games with our two big guys, you know, and tonight he played with Rafael [Castro] who’s been with us for three days. So some of it is like the group he’s with – it’s not necessarily setting him up for success.”

Could a trade be in the works for Bronny and the Lakers?
When LeBron James first announced that he was joining the Philadelphia 76ers, it was made clear that Bronny wouldn’t be available for trade.
“The Lakers are more than happy to keep Bronny James. They drafted him in the second round two years ago. They developed him. They’re a fan of him. He has a lot of people who like him within the building,” Lakers writer Khobi Price said, via Silver Screen and Roll. “It’s not going to be one of those situations where they’re just going to send Bronny to wherever LeBron goes. It would take something real for the Lakers to want to trade him.”
It’s possible the Lakers have softened their stance, especially after seeing Bronny struggle in the preseason.
