Is Tony Romo done at CBS?
If you're to believe what the network is saying about the situation, it certainly sounds like it. Romo, 46, was arrested on suspicion of OWI last month. Romo, a former star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, has been CBS's No. 1 NFL announcer since 2017.
But while CBS has said that Romo is being temporarily sidelined, it seems unlikely that he'll ever get back to the No. 1 chair.
CBS Sports president David Berson said the quiet part out loud when he admitted that he has to think about the network's "brand" and "image" with the Romo decision moving forward.
“In making this decision, we had to consider the impact on our image and on our brand. That’s very important to us,” Berson told reporters in his brief opening remarks.

When you're bringing up the "brand" and "image" aspect of things, it's tough to see a way back.

The former NFL quarterback thinks that Romo is done.
“If I had to guess, purely speculation given what’s going on right now, I would think it’s over,” Esiason said of Romo’s tenure at CBS. “He may end up going somewhere else and getting things straightened out.”
Esiason doesn't see Romo doing the second or third booth gig, either.
“That’s an insult,” Esiason said, reminding everyone of how CBS attempted to demote Simms. “Especially a guy that worked 20 years as your lead analyst.”
