On Thursday Night Football, two of the NFL’s best teams will face off as the New England Patriots head to Chicago to take on the Bears. Both teams sit at 4-2 heading into the matchup, thanks in large part to their quarterbacks, Drake Maye and Caleb Williams, who were both selected two picks apart in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Through two plus seasons, each quarterback has taken the NFL by storm. For Maye, he has already led New England to the Super Bowl and finished second in MVP voting, and Williams has already led the Bears to an NFC North title and a playoff victory.
The sky is the limit for both quarterbacks, and Zolak and Bertrand from 98.5 The Sports Hub foresee this elite quarterback matchup being the future of the NFL.
“I believe that Drake Maye and Caleb Williams are the future face[s] of the NFL,” said Marc Bertrand.
“These two guys are going to be the two quarterbacks that, when [Josh] Allen is aging out, and [Patrick] Mahomes is aging out, and that generation and Lamar [Jackson] is gone, these are going to be the two guys at the top of the league.”
The Future Is Now
This season both quarterbacks have been able to overcome early-season adversity.
Maye, through three games, struggled mightily with one touchdown to six interceptions, leading New England to a 1-2 record. Since then, he has turned it around in a big way with 10 passing touchdowns compared to one interception, leading the Patriots to three straight victories.
Williams, on the other hand, suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2. When he returned from injury last week against the Falcons, he put on a show, completing 30 of his 36 pass attempts to go with a touchdown.
With Maye and Williams both coming off great performances, look for both quarterbacks to light up the scoreboard and cause headaches for the opposing team’s defense on Thursday night in what could be a future Super Bowl matchup for years to come.
