Argentina hosts Mauritania on Friday, March 27, at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires at 4:15 p.m. PT, 7:15 p.m. ET in a friendly match. All eyes are on Lionel Messi as he’s set to start.
The Argentine national team will have two friendlies during this international break, against Mauritania and Zambia on Tuesday. Head coach Lionel Scaloni confirmed that Messi, 38, will participate in both matches.
In fact, Scaloni also answered the press’s question about whether Messi will play in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Apparently, the Argentine has not yet made a decision.
“That’s a question more for him,” the coach said, via ESPN. “As far as I’m concerned, you already know where I stand. I’ll do everything I can to make sure he’s there.”
“I believe that, for the sake of football, he has to be there. It’s not me who decides. It’s up to him, his state of mind, his physical condition.”

According to Scaloni, not only do Argentine fans want to see Messi in the World Cup, but fans around the world do as well.
“It’s difficult because it is not just the Argentinians who want to see him; everyone wants to see him. I want him to be there. It’s up to him to decide. He’s earned the right to make that decision with peace of mind.”
“We’re in no rush about it. We know whatever he decides will be best for the team and for him. We hope he will be there,” Scaloni added.
While the Inter Miami star decides whether to participate, we will be able to watch him play against Mauritania and Zambia.
