Inter Miami will play its third 2026 Leagues Cup game. It is the most important game for them in the competition, and a win is the only result that can see them advance to the quarterfinals.
Inter Miami have one win and one loss so far, and that loss in the previous matchday complicated their journey to advancing to the quarterfinals.
The MLS champions lost 2-1 to Monterrey and are currently 11th in the MLS Leagues Cup table with three points.
A win over Club Leon does not automatically mean that they will play in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup. Inter Miami will need other results to go in their favor based on points.
Many assumed that Inter Miami will have to play without Lionel Messi again, as the player is traveling back to Miami after spending time with family in Rosario, Argentina, following the passing of his father.
However, Messi is listed on the Inter Miami bench and could potentially get minutes tonight. Inter Miami needs to win by at least 4 goals and will need several MLS teams to lose to qualify for the quarterfinals.
The teams that finish in the top four positions of the MLS league table advance to the quarterfinals. Inter Miami would need Austin FC, Chicago Fire, FC Dallas, LAFC, and Portland Timbers to lose tonight.

Club Leon is also in contention to advance to the quarterfinals. They are currently on six points after two wins.
Leon is currently 4th in the Liga MX Leagues Cup table, and due to other Liga MX teams’ performances so far, a point would be enough for Leon to advance to the next round.
