The Indianapolis Colts are entering the 2026 season with plenty riding on Daniel Jones. The quarterback helped the Colts open last season 8-2 before a late-season slide and an injury led to a 8-9 finish and a missed playoff berth.
Even with that ending, Indianapolis showed its belief in Jones this offseason, signing him to a two-year, $88 million deal that could keep him with the team through 2027. The Colts have now added another piece to help him succeed.
After months of fans pushing for more help at wide receiver, Indianapolis made its move, signing free agent Keenan Allen to a one-year contract worth up to $8.32 million with incentives.
The team confirmed the deal Wednesday, giving Jones a proven veteran target heading into the season.
Allen enters the deal at 34 years old, measuring 6-foot-2 and 211 pounds, and while his age was a factor in free agency, his recent production suggests he still has plenty left.
After a season with the Chicago Bears in 2024, Allen returned to the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 and caught 81 passes on 122 targets for 777 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 9.6 yards per catch.
He also already has familiarity with Colts head coach Shane Steichen, having spent seven seasons together with the Chargers from 2014 through 2020, a relationship that should smooth his transition to Indianapolis.

Allen isn’t expected to be the focal point of the offense. His role figures to be simpler, moving the chains as a complementary piece behind Alec Pierce, Tyler Warren and Josh Downs in the passing game.
Over 171 career games, Allen has racked up 1,055 catches for 12,051 yards and 70 touchdowns, numbers that rank him 13th all-time in receptions, 33rd in receiving yards and tied for 52nd in touchdown catches.
