Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is known for her competitiveness. She absolutely hates losing, and she’s not afraid to call out her team or blame herself whenever they lose.
In that way, Clark and her Fever head coach Stephanie White are similar. As White said previously, she and Clark are “very much alike in terms of our competitive fire, our competitive spirit, our perfectionism and type of personalities.”
That is part of the reason why White loves “going to work with her every day,” since Clark is someone who wants to be “coached, challenged and pushed.”
Off the court, however, Clark is a different person. She’s only 24 years old, and as many of her teammates could attest to, she’s just goofy and someone who loves to have fun.
White herself has experienced Clark’s off-court personality firsthand. In a report by The Athletic, there was apparently one time that Clark saw “White’s phone unattended and shot a handful of unserious selfies that the Fever coach didn’t discover until weeks later.”
After that moment, White was reminded that Clark is just a kid.
“There are those moments, where I feel like, yeah, she’s like my children,” White said of Clark.

For what it’s worth, Fever guard Lexie Hull had a similar sentiment about Clark, saying that her teammate is a “sarcastic, always-right, silly goose who just wants to have fun.”
“Even in the midst of chaos and frustration, whether we’re winning or losing or whether there’s a crazy headline out there, she continues to bring smiles and happiness to us,” Hull said of the three-time All-Star.
Sure enough, as the Fever prepare for the playoffs, they will need Clark to lead them on the court with her fiery attitude and remind them of the joy they need to navigate the ups and downs of the postseason off the court.
