Caitlin Clark is one of the best players in the WNBA today. The Indiana Fever star is third in the WNBA in scoring with 23.8 points and first in assists with 9.0 dimes per game. Despite that, she's not immune to having bad games.
In fact, Clark had a rough start to the 2026 WNBA season. In the Fever's first two games against the Dallas Wings and Los Angeles Sparks, the All-Star playmaker shot a combined 3-for-16 from the 3-point line.
While Clark admitted that it's hard not to have "crash out moments" whenever she's playing poorly, she shared that she always tries to have a "next play" mentality and think of other ways to get going offensively.

"I think you try to be like as next play as possible," Clark said on the "Post Moves" podcast when asked to explain her perspective whenever she has a tough shooting night.
"I think a lot for myself. If I'm missing threes, [I'm] like, 'Get downhill, get downhill, get downhill, get downhill,' [and] 'Get your feet in the paint, get your feet in the paint.' It's either I'm going to get a layup or my teammates are going to get a layup or an open three."
Clark shared that she also reminds herself to not "settle" during off nights and to try to "get to the free throw line" to "see an easy one" go in.
"Obviously, there's moments of like, 'You suck,' but that's any athlete. Like, you have those crash out moments," Clark stated.
Considering Clark's streaky shooting at the start of the season, it's unlikely that she'll be perfect for the rest of the campaign. Regardless, it's clear that the star playmaker has the right mentality and approach when it comes to dealing with ugly games.
