Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell was not able to finish Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Tempo after getting “overheated.” She left the contest in the third quarter and did not return.
Despite that, Mitchell did more than enough to help Indiana secure a 101-95 victory over Toronto. She finished with 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting, while adding three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 24 minutes of action.
Mitchell got off to a hot start, scoring 16 points in the first quarter alone, allowing the Fever to build a 10-point lead at the end of the period. The team led by as many as 17 points in the second quarter, leaving Toronto to play catch-up for the entire game.

With that performance, Mitchell was able to extend her streak of scoring at least 20 points in a game to 20. That ties A’ja Wilson’s all-time record for the longest 20-point streak in WNBA history.
“20 games in a row,” the Fever posted on social media to celebrate Mitchell’s milestone. “Kelsey Mitchell has tied the WNBA record for most consecutive games with 20+ points.”
The Fever are set to play the Dallas Wings next Thursday, which should give Mitchell the opportunity to set a new WNBA record.
It’s definitely not hard to see Mitchell scoring at least 20 points against the Wings, especially since she dropped 23 points on 9-of-21 shooting when the teams played last week. In their first meeting this season as well, the Fever guard exploded for 30 points.
For what it’s worth, Wings star Paige Bueckers also said last month that Mitchell is the “hardest player” to guard in the WNBA.
