Caitlin Clark continues to make WNBA history with the Indiana Fever. The three-time WNBA All-Star has led her squad to their best record in franchise history. The Fever are currently 26-14 with four games remaining in the regular season.
This season, Clark is averaging 22.5 points, 8.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals. The 6-foot guard is shooting 45.6% from the field and 37.3% from three, both career highs. On top of all that, the first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft had an incredible run in August.
Clark played 11 games for the Fever last month. She helped Indiana win seven games while averaging 24.4 points per game. The performance is the highest-scoring month by a point guard in WNBA history.
The Fever guard also scored or assisted on 44.7 PPG that month, setting a new WNBA record. She recorded 20+ points and 10+ assists five times in August. Clark also became the first player in WNBA history with back-to-back 30+ points and 10+ assists games.
The Fever celebrated their superstar’s achievement by revealing the perfect nickname for the historic WNBA development: “HERstoric.”
“Caitlin Clark’s month of August was HERstoric 📜,” Indiana said in the caption.
Clark is currently away from the Fever while on national team duty. She is joined by Indiana teammate Aliyah Boston to represent Team USA in Berlin, Germany. They will be competing for the gold medal in the upcoming FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Clark and Co. opened their campaign against China on Friday. The Fever superstar made waves in her World Cup debut, leading Team USA to a dominant 94-61 victory.
Clark was named the Player of the Game after producing a 14-point, 11-assist double-double with three triples. The 24-year-old set a new record for the most assists in a Team USA World Cup debut.
